Information We Collect
When you sign up to become a tutor, or student, you will be asked to provide us with certain personal information, such as your first name, last name and email address. If you sign-in through Facebook Connect, Google, you are authorizing Tuter to collect, store, and use, in accordance with this Privacy Policy, any and all information that you agreed that Facebook, Inc. (“Facebook”), or Google, Inc. would provide to Tuter through Facebook’s, or Google’s Application Programming Interface (“API”). Such information may include, without limitation, your first and last name, your address, date of birth, Facebook, or Google username, Facebook, or Google profile picture, headline, unique identifier and access token, and e-mail address. We also may collect financial information, such as the full bank account numbers and credit card numbers which we provide to Third Parties (such as banks and payment gateways) hired by us for payment processing. In this Privacy Policy, we refer to this information as “Personal Information.” We may provide your Personal Information, such as your full name and date of birth, to Third Parties for the limited purpose of allowing them to conduct checks, including criminal or professional background checks, on our behalf.
In order to use the App, we may, with your prior permission, collect geolocational information from your mobile device, your wireless carrier, or certain third-party service providers (“Geolocational Information”). Collection of such Geolocational Information occurs only when the App is running on your mobile device. You may decline to allow us to collect such Geolocational Information, in which case we will not be able to provide certain services to you. Because your Geolocational Information is subject to abuse by others, please be sure to manage your mobile device and privacy preferences on the App on an ongoing basis.
Like most web sites, we may use automatic data collection technology when you visit the Site to record information that identifies your computer, to track your use of our Site, and to collect certain basic information about you and your surfing habits. This information includes information about your operating system, your IP addresses, browser type and language, referring and exit pages and URLs, keywords, date and time, amount of time spent on particular pages, what sections of a website you visit, and similar information concerning your use of the Site and the Service (the “Usage Information”). We may also use third-party analytics technology to track and collect anonymous traffic data, including, but not limited to, Usage Information about the use of the App. The third-party technology providers may have access to your information only for the purposes of performing these tasks and on behalf of us.
We collect this Usage Information by using cookies and pixel tags (also called web beacons or clear gifs). Cookies are small packets of data that a web site stores on your computer’s hard drive so that your computer will “remember” information about your visit. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of web site users. You can reject cookies by following the directions provided in your Internet provider’s “help” file. If you reject cookies, you may still visit the Site, but may not be able to use some areas of the Site and/or the Service.
We do not collect Personal Information in this way, but if you’ve provided us with Personal Information we may associate that information with the information that is collected automatically. Automatic data collection may be performed on our behalf by our services providers.
We may also allow third-party companies that are presenting advertisements on the Site and/or the App to set and access their own cookies. Such third-party cookies are not governed by this Privacy Policy, but by the privacy policies of such third party.
How We Use Your Information
IMPORTANT: When you use our services, your data may be sent to the United States and possibly other countries.
We and/or Third Parties we share your information with may transfer, store, use and process your information, including any Personal Information, to countries including the United States. Please note that laws vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, and so the privacy laws applicable to the places where your information is transferred to or stored, used or processed in, may be different from the privacy laws applicable to the place where you are resident.
We may use your Personal Information and Usage Information in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy and the context of our relationship with you. We use, store and process Information about you for the following general purposes:
- to enable you to access and use our services;
- to operate, protect, improve and optimize our services, Tuter’s business, and our users’ experience, such as to perform analytics, conduct research, personalize or otherwise customize your experience, and for advertising and marketing;
- to help create and maintain a trusted and safer environment on the Platform and Services, meet at a public place.
- to send you service, support and administrative messages, reminders, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and information requested by you;
- where we have your consent, to send you marketing and promotional messages and other information that may be of interest to you, including information about Tuter or general promotions for partner campaigns and services. You can unsubscribe or opt-out from receiving these communications.
- to administer referral programs, rewards, surveys, sweepstakes, contests, or other promotional activities or events cliented or managed by Tuter or our business partners; and
- to comply with our legal obligations, resolve any disputes that we may have with any of our users, and enforce our agreements with third parties.
We, like many businesses, sometimes hire other companies to perform certain business-related functions. Examples include mailing information, maintaining databases, hosting services, and processing payments. When we employ another company to perform a function of this nature, we provide them with the information that they need to perform their specific function, which may include Personal Information. If we or all or substantially all of our assets are acquired, we expect that the information that we have collected, including Personal Information, would be transferred along with our other business assets.
We may disclose your Personal Information and Usage Information to government authorities, and to other third parties when compelled to do so by government authorities, at our discretion, or otherwise as required by law, including but not limited to in response to court orders and subpoenas. We also may disclose your Personal Information and Usage Information when we have reason to believe that someone is or may be causing injury to or interference with our rights or property, other users of this Site, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.
How We Protect Your Information
We take commercially reasonable steps to protect the Personal Information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Please understand, however, that no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our databases, nor can we guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to and from us over the Internet.

The Site and/or the App may contain content, services, advertising and other materials that link to web sites operated by third parties. We have no control over those other sites, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them.
Changes To This Privacy Policy
We may change how we collect and then use Personal Information at any time and without prior notice, at our sole discretion. We may change this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes to the Privacy Policy, we will notify you either by posting the changed Privacy Policy on the Platform or by sending an email to you. We will also update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy. If we let you know of changes through an email communication, then the date on which we send the email will be deemed to be the date of your receipt of that email. Please refer back to this Privacy Policy on a regular basis.
